About the Artist

Puli Vijaya Kishore

Experienced contemporary artist Puli Vijaya Kishore hails from Warangal in the state of Telangana. She received recognition for her paintings and took part in a number of national and international art exhibitions. Among these are the 1980 Lalithkala Academy Award and the gold medal from the 82nd All India Art Exhibition conducted by the Hyderabad Art Society.

In order to portray the social, emotional and psychological reactions of the tribal people of Warangal District to the outside world, Vijaya uses strong colours, broad brushstrokes, and expressive, frequently symbolic imagery in her paintings, which are frequently referred to as Impressionism. She is renowned for her vivacious compositions — lively pieces that evoke motion and vitality.

A Lifetime of Work

Every painting in the Nayanam collection is an original, one-of-a-kind work — signed by the artist and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Vijaya's subjects range from the sacred (gods, deities, and spiritual themes), to the festive (Bathukamma, the beloved Telangana floral celebration), to the deeply personal (portraits of women — their resilience, identity, and place in society).

Her palette is bold and her brushwork immediate. There is an energy to these paintings that cannot be replicated — each one carries the living imprint of a hand and a mind shaped by decades of practice, cultural immersion, and devotion.
